Family accounts: one parent, each child’s own bookings

Junocal team6 min read

Short answer

Junocal family accounts let a verified parent or booking contact manage named participants from one booking area. Each child keeps their own class bookings and eligible pack balance, while payment and booking messages stay with the contact. Parents can switch between one family member and all bookings.

One parent, two children, different classes. One child has visits left on a pack; the other needs a new one. Both booking messages arrive in the parent’s inbox, but the instructor needs the children’s names on the register.

For a dance studio, youth class or group music programme, the person paying is often not the person attending. Family accounts in Junocal make that distinction visible throughout the booking journey.

See one child’s bookings or the whole family’s

The verified booking contact can switch between Me, named family members and All bookings in their booking area. That makes it possible to focus on one participant or check the family’s schedule together.

Under Manage family members, the contact can add a participant or correct their details. A child does not need a separate email address to have their own participant profile.

This is useful when a studio runs more than one age group or activity. The parent can manage the booking, while the attendee’s identity stays with the place they have reserved.

Assign class packs to the person who will use them

When a parent buys a managed class pack, they choose its beneficiary. The payment stays with the booking contact; the credits belong to the named participant.

Consider this illustrative family:

PersonClass-pack balanceWhat it can cover
AvaFour remaining visitsAva’s eligible class bookings
TheoSeven remaining visitsTheo’s eligible class bookings
ParentTheir own benefits, if anyThe parent’s eligible bookings

The family view brings the records together without pooling the credits. Ava’s booking cannot silently use Theo’s pack just because the same person paid for both.

The pack’s normal service coverage, validity and booking rules still matter. Selecting a beneficiary does not turn a restricted pack into access to every class.

Reuse saved details at checkout

Saved family members appear in the supported booking flow, so a parent does not have to enter the same participant identity on every visit. Classes must allow participant registration; a class configured for self-booking does not become a family booking simply because a profile exists.

Two siblings can book together using their separate eligible packs. Checkout shows the selected pass and remaining credits for the attendee. If the parent changes who is attending, incompatible payment selections are cleared so the benefit can be checked again.

Before paying or confirming, the parent should be able to read three things together: the participant, the class and the payment or credit being used. That is also a useful check for front-desk staff helping with a booking.

Keep forms with the participant

A shared contact does not mean a shared waiver. Required participant and guardian information belongs to the relevant child’s booking record.

Junocal’s existing guardian registration supports classes and courses, with the appropriate participant details and signing evidence. Updating a family profile does not rewrite the identity recorded on a previously signed form.

For setup, review your client forms and participant registration settings together. The instructor needs to know who is attending, and the form needs to reflect who it concerns and who signed it.

Send useful messages to the booking contact

Booking receipts and messages go to the contact and identify the attendee. A confirmation for Ava should say it is Ava’s booking, even though her parent is the recipient.

Calendar entries and email calendar attachments also name the participant. Rescheduled or cancelled entries retain their event identity so the change relates to the same booking.

Class-pack receipts and expiry reminders preserve the beneficiary when directing the contact back to booking. That helps the parent continue with the right child selected, rather than starting again from an ambiguous balance.

Keep the family list current without losing history

Families change their routines. A participant may stop attending one programme while a sibling continues.

The contact can archive and restore family members. Before archiving, Junocal explains activity that needs resolving, such as upcoming bookings, current courses, open checkouts or unused packs. Archiving preserves history; it does not erase earlier bookings or signed evidence.

This gives the parent a tidier current view while keeping the studio’s past records understandable.

What this release covers

The first release centres on one verified contact managing named participants, separate class-pack balances and supported class bookings. It does not include shared household credit pools, multiple guardian access, recurring child memberships or child appointments. New native-app family screens are also outside this release.

If your studio needs one of those arrangements, discuss it with the team before designing an offer around it. A clear boundary is better than selling a “family membership” whose credits cannot be used as promised.

Try the whole family journey

Before introducing the workflow to parents, walk through two participants with different balances. Book a class for each, switch the selected attendee, review the forms and check the booking messages and calendar entries.

Then ask a front-desk colleague to identify who is attending and whose credit was used. That is the handoff the feature needs to make clear.

For more context, see the earlier guardian booking release. If you are assessing systems for your school, the dance studio software comparison explains the different operating needs to consider. You can also talk to the Junocal team about your own family booking setup.

a few questions

FAQ

Can a parent book classes for two children?
Yes, in classes that allow participant registration. The parent can select saved family members and book siblings together, applying each attendee’s own eligible class pack or reward where available.
Do siblings share one class-pack balance?
No. A class pack is assigned to its named beneficiary. One child’s balance is not automatically available to a sibling or the parent.
Does each child need a separate email address?
No. Family profiles can be saved without an email address. The verified booking contact receives the booking messages, with the attendee identified.
Can two guardians manage the same family account?
This release supports one verified booking contact managing their participants. Multiple guardian access and independent adult invitations are outside this release.
Does this include recurring child memberships and private appointments?
No. The new managed benefits cover class packs and supported class bookings. Recurring child memberships and child appointments are not included in this release. Existing guardian course registration remains a separate supported workflow.
