New in Junocal: booking choices, extras and more control

Sharon Onyinye10 min read

Short answer

Junocal’s recent releases give studios more control over class bookings: named pricing options, optional physical extras for pickup, selected-service checkout forms and clearer participant registration. Other updates add optional monthly guest passes, member-first waitlist offers and dashboard search. This roundup covers features released from 8–12 September 2026. Booking choices, extras and member perks need your configuration; the release does not automatically change your existing class prices or enable those benefits.

Not every class needs the same booking form, the same price choices or the same things waiting at reception. A regular weekly class might need a simple reservation. A workshop might offer a Premium option and a workbook. A child’s class needs the participant’s details and the right guardian’s signature.

Our latest Junocal releases make more of those differences configurable. Here is what shipped from 8–12 September 2026, how the pieces fit together and where to start in your own studio.

1. Offer different booking options for one class

You can now give clients named choices such as Standard and Premium without creating duplicate classes just to display two prices.

Each option has a name, an optional description and a total price. It still represents one place in the same class. All options share the session’s overall capacity, and an option can have its own smaller limit where you need one.

For example, a workshop could offer a standard place at £28 and a £42 Premium experience that includes a post-class discussion. Those prices are illustrative, not recommended rates. Describe the difference clearly so the client knows what they are choosing.

Open a class in your workspace, create or edit it, and expand Booking options & extras. Leave the section unused for classes that do not need choices.

Current boundary: this flow collects payment in full and does not support pick-a-spot booking. Keep sessions that require assigned mats, seats or equipment on their supported booking setup rather than assuming both modes can be combined.

2. Add physical extras without turning them into class credits

A workbook, welcome kit or piece of merchandise is a product, not another place in the class. Optional extras let you attach eligible physical products to class bookings and offer them for pickup.

The customer chooses the item and quantity. The extra uses product inventory; it does not create an additional class place or grant class-pack credits. The booking checkout shows the selected class option and extras separately, with one payment for the selected items.

Start by creating the physical product in Store, with its price, inventory and applicable product settings. Then select it in the class’s Booking options & extras section and set the maximum per participant. Nothing is added to the customer’s basket simply because you have made it available.

Try the live component below. It uses fictional products and does not connect to an account or take a payment.

In this example, Premium at £42 plus an £8 workbook gives a £50 subtotal before any applicable taxes, discounts or fees. Switching back to Standard changes the class portion, not the workbook’s price.

What about clients who already have a pass?

Verified returning customers can use an eligible existing pack, membership or guest pass to cover the standard place. A higher-priced option charges the difference, and physical extras are paid for separately. A pack credit does not become merchandise credit.

This is not a blanket statement that any pass works for any class. Its service, location and other eligibility rules still apply. Nor is buying a new pass in the same checkout the same as applying an existing eligible benefit.

Current boundary: these extras are for class bookings and pickup. Course-linked extras, appointment-linked extras, shipping and a full bundle builder are not included in this release. Do not treat the example as an automatic stock-linked bundle: the Premium choice and the workbook are separate selections.

3. Ask the right questions for the right booking

You can add descriptions to class booking pages and scope your checkout form to the classes and appointments where it is relevant.

That means a question needed for a particular workshop does not have to appear on every ordinary booking. Choose the relevant services in your form configuration and review the resulting customer journey before using it broadly.

Keep the distinction between a checkout question and a participant’s intake or waiver. A short workshop preference question is not a substitute for a required participant form. The existing service-specific intake and signature flow continues to apply where configured.

For a first pass, review one class description and one checkout form. Remove unnecessary questions from unrelated bookings, while keeping the information you genuinely need for the session.

4. Make it clearer who is booking and who is attending

Booking contact and participant are not always the same person. Recent participant controls let you decide whether clients can book for someone else, while guardian registration supports children and dependants in the relevant class and course flows.

The contact can enter the participant’s details and complete the appropriate guardian form. The participant and signer stay associated with that registration; the child’s form does not silently become the parent’s own completed intake.

This matters for a music lesson or children’s dance class as much as a family activity session. Use your real booking policy when deciding which participant options to enable. Allowing someone to book for another adult and permitting guardian registration are distinct settings, not interchangeable shortcuts.

5. Give memberships optional, explicit benefits

Two recent additions let you offer a benefit beyond ordinary access without changing every membership by default.

Monthly guest passes

On a membership’s detail page, open Guest passes and choose an allowance. The default is zero; you can configure up to 20 passes per calendar month. Unused allowances do not roll over.

An eligible member can use their private management link to invite a guest to an eligible ordinary class they have already booked. The guest still completes the required booking information and forms. The invitation reserves an allowance, not a class space: capacity is checked when the guest accepts.

This is not a course or appointment guest allowance. Review the cancellation rules shown in the settings before offering it as a membership benefit.

Member-first waitlist offers

In Settings → Waitlist, you can enable Give members first waitlist offers. Eligible members receive the first offer round; if it expires with space remaining, the offer can move to the rest of the waitlist.

It is a head start, not a reserved place. Normal bookings remain possible, and the usual capacity, membership eligibility and booking-payment rules apply. Avoid advertising it to members as a guaranteed spot.

6. Find features and settings without remembering the menu

The dashboard now has a Search control, with Cmd+K on Mac and Ctrl+K on Windows. Search for features, settings or help—for example, “guest passes” or “guardian”—and use the result to reach the relevant area.

There are also limited upcoming-class and recent-client shortcuts. This is not a search of your entire client history; use Clients for that. Search also respects your role and plan rather than unlocking a restricted feature.

If you want help working with supported studio information rather than finding a screen, try Juno, the AI assistant inside Junocal. Search navigates; Juno can prepare supported actions for you to review.

A smaller shop, when that is all you need

One further storefront change keeps the public Shop focused on what you actually offer. An empty shop no longer appears in the navigation. Online gift-card sales require an explicit opt-in under Storefront → About & contact → Sell gift cards online, as well as an eligible connected payment account.

If you want to sell new gift cards, check that switch. Previously issued cards remain redeemable; turning off new sales does not erase existing balances. Sold-out active products can remain visible with an unavailable state, so a sold-out item is not confused with an empty catalogue.

What should you set up first?

Choose the change that solves an actual task in your studio:

  • Running a workshop? Start with a clear description, one pricing choice and a relevant form.
  • Selling a physical kit? Create the product and attach it as a pickup extra to the right class.
  • Teaching children or dependants? Review your participant policy and guardian journey.
  • Offering membership benefits? Set an allowance or waitlist policy you can explain clearly to members.

Then preview that one booking on a phone before extending the setup. Existing classes do not need to be redesigned just because more options are available.

Open Junocal to configure your studio, compare the current plans, or contact us if you would like help deciding which setup fits. These releases add choices; you decide which ones belong in your business.

a few questions

FAQ

Can I offer Standard and Premium prices for the same class?
Yes. Configure named booking options when creating or editing a class. Each option has a total price and uses one place from the same class capacity. This release does not support combining these options with pick-a-spot booking.
Can a client buy a workbook while booking a class?
Yes, when you attach an eligible physical product as an optional extra. The customer selects a quantity and sees an itemised amount in the booking checkout. This release is for class-linked pickup extras, not shipping or course and appointment extras.
Do members pay again for a class covered by a pass?
Verified returning customers can apply an eligible existing class pack, membership or guest pass to the standard place. A higher-priced option charges the upgrade difference; physical extras are charged separately. The usual eligibility checks still apply.
Are guest passes and member-first waitlists enabled automatically?
No. Guest allowances default to zero, and member-first waitlist offers are off until you enable them. A guest invitation or priority offer is not a guaranteed class place; capacity and eligibility are checked when a booking is claimed.
What happens if I do not use booking options or extras?
Your existing classes keep their normal prices and booking flow. You only configure choices and extras for the classes that need them.
