Squarespace Scheduling (Acuity) vs Junocal for class studios

Sharon Onyinye7 min read

Short answer

Squarespace Scheduling is now called Acuity Scheduling. It's billed separately from your Squarespace website plan, from $16 a month on annual billing, and its packages, memberships and waitlists start on Standard at $27 a month annually. Junocal adds a class timetable to Squarespace with one Code Block and includes class packs, renewing memberships, waitlists, term courses and pick-a-spot from $15 a month, with payments into your own Stripe account. Its live timetable needs a Squarespace Core, Plus or Advanced plan.

Squarespace's own scheduling tool used to be sold as Squarespace Scheduling. Squarespace now calls it Acuity Scheduling everywhere, though plenty of studio owners still search for the old name. This page compares it with Junocal for a class business on a Squarespace site: yoga, pilates, barre, dance, fitness, personal training and music.

Junocal is our product. The facts about Acuity and Squarespace come from their pricing pages and help centres, checked on 23 October 2026.

How Acuity works for classes

Acuity started as appointment scheduling, and classes sit alongside appointments. A class has a maximum number of people (eight by default), can repeat, and can run as a series that clients sign up for as a whole. Every Acuity plan includes classes, workshops and group events.

The selling tools are on Standard and above: packages, subscriptions and memberships, with subscriptions only through Stripe or Square. Waitlists are also Standard and above, cover single class sessions rather than a series, and send a text with a booking link when a place opens. Acuity is a separate subscription from your Squarespace website plan, from $16 a month billed annually.

Where Junocal is different for a class studio

Everything a class studio sells, from the first plan. On Junocal Starter ($15 a month), clients buy drop-ins, intro offers, class packs that take one credit per class and memberships that renew and can be paused.

Courses as their own product. Sell an eight-week beginners' course or a ten-week term as one enrolment for every date, with makeup credits for missed weeks.

A waitlist that fills the class. When someone cancels with notice, Junocal books the next client in line. Close to class time, everyone waiting gets the offer and the first to claim it gets the place.

Pick-a-spot. Clients choose their reformer, bike or spot at the barre as they book.

Payments into your own Stripe account. There's no marketplace, so no commission on your bookings, and paid plans add no Junocal transaction fee. Squarespace's own commerce fees don't apply to classes sold through Junocal.

The rest of the studio in one place. Intake forms and waivers, check-in, reminders, reports, gift cards and instructor schedules all run in Junocal.

What setup looks like

With Acuity, you add a Scheduling Block to your Squarespace page and choose what it shows.

With Junocal, you open Booking page → Embed, copy the code and paste it into a Squarespace Code Block. The live timetable needs Core, Plus or Advanced, because Squarespace runs scripts in Code Blocks only on those plans. On Basic, a Button block links clients to your Junocal booking page instead. The step-by-step Squarespace guide covers each click.

Moving from Acuity to Junocal

  1. Export your clients from Acuity as a CSV and import them into Junocal.
  2. Set up your classes, courses, packs and memberships, and connect your own Stripe account.
  3. Test a booking on a Squarespace page that isn't in your menu yet.
  4. On your switch date, replace the Scheduling Block with Junocal's Code Block and email clients the new link.

a few questions

FAQ

Is Squarespace Scheduling included with my Squarespace plan?
No. Squarespace says Acuity, its scheduling tool, is a separate subscription from your website plan. Squarespace sites get a free Acuity trial, then Acuity starts at $16 a month on annual billing or $20 monthly.
Is Junocal an alternative to Squarespace Scheduling for classes?
Yes. Junocal is built around a class timetable: class capacity, pick-a-spot, packs that take one credit per class, renewing memberships, term courses and waitlists. Paste one Code Block on your Squarespace site and clients book and pay into your own Stripe account.
Which Squarespace plan do I need for Junocal?
Core, Plus or Advanced, because those plans run scripts in Code Blocks. On Basic, add a Button block that opens your Junocal booking page.
Can I move from Acuity to Junocal?
Yes. Export your clients from Acuity as a CSV and import them into Junocal, set up your classes and products, then replace the Scheduling Block on your Squarespace page with Junocal's Code Block. Migration help is included in your first 30 days.
