Switching from Mindbody to a solo Pilates setup
Short answer
A solo Pilates teacher should consider leaving Mindbody when the current quote and operating complexity outweigh marketplace, reporting and ecosystem value. Mindbody's July 2026 US Starter price is $79/month; Junocal Starter is $15/month, a published subscription difference of $768/year before tax and payment costs. That is not an equivalent-feature saving. Junocal fits individually paid capacity-one appointments beside scheduled classes, but lacks private-session packages, partial deposits, recurring appointment series, a consumer marketplace, HIPAA and clinical records.
For a solo teacher, the decision is less about brand and more about whether a large studio system still earns its cost. Start with the current contract and the workflows that generate revenue.
Junocal is our product. This guide states both the published price advantage and the current product scope so a solo teacher can verify the complete workflow before moving.
Published subscription difference
Mindbody's July 2026 US pricing update lists Starter at $79 per location per month. Junocal publishes Starter at $15/month.
| Subscription | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|
| Mindbody US Starter | $79 | $948 |
| Junocal Starter | $15 | $180 |
| Difference | $64 | $768 |
Higher Mindbody tiers are quote-led. Payment fees, add-ons, marketplace terms, tax and promotions require current written terms. Do not add an assumed processor markup or commission.
Check product fit before price
Junocal can combine individually paid 1:1 availability with scheduled duets or group classes, eligible class packs and memberships, post-booking conditional forms, waitlists and a branded storefront.
Important limits:
- private appointments are capacity one and charged in full;
- packs and memberships do not redeem against private appointments;
- partial appointment deposits and recurring appointment series are not available;
- forms are operator-authored and requested after booking, not clinical templates;
- Junocal is not a HIPAA or EHR product;
- there is no consumer marketplace.
Junocal does not currently automate prepaid private-session packages or partial appointment deposits, so verify those requirements before migration.
Measure marketplace value
Export or report the last 12 months of genuinely new, profitable clients supplied by Mindbody's consumer channel. Separate first-time discovery from bookings by clients who already knew the business. Compare contribution margin and retention with referrals, Google and direct social traffic.
Leaving removes that Mindbody surface. There is no universal percentage below which every teacher should leave.
Read the contract you signed
Mindbody's current terms include a default initial term but allow an order form or other agreement to specify different terms. Check:
- current term and renewal date;
- cancellation notice and method;
- early termination or buyout;
- access to data after cancellation;
- payment and marketplace terms.
Do not assume a 12–24-month commitment or 30–60-day notice without the applicable document.
Migration checklist
- Inventory future bookings, clients, packages, memberships, forms and required history.
- Pull the reports available to the account and, where appropriate, use Mindbody's Subscriber Data Export process.
- Preserve consent and communication preferences with their provenance.
- Dry-run the destination import and reconcile record counts, balances and expiry dates.
- Identify recurring payment methods that require client re-authorisation.
- Build operator-authored services, policies and intake in the destination.
- Test purchase, booking, cancellation, waitlist and refund workflows.
- Communicate the new booking link only after the dry run passes.
There is no reliable universal migration duration. A simple client list can move quickly; future bookings, memberships, form history and payment mandates add time.
Bottom line
Junocal's published Starter subscription is $768/year below Mindbody's current US Starter entry price. Move when Junocal's documented workflows pass the studio's dry run and the value of direct ownership exceeds the value retained in Mindbody. A successful dry run is stronger evidence than a generic promise that migration is easy.
FAQ
- Will I lose Mindbody marketplace bookings?
- Junocal does not list a studio in the Mindbody consumer marketplace. Measure how many profitable, genuinely incremental clients that channel supplies before leaving; do not use an assumed 5–15% share.
- What if I am under contract?
- Check the signed order form and current Mindbody terms. The website default is not proof that every account has the same annual commitment. Record the renewal date, notice requirement and any early-exit terms before scheduling overlap.
- Can Junocal replace every solo Mindbody workflow?
- No. Junocal appointments are capacity one and paid in full; private appointments cannot currently redeem pack or membership credits. There are no partial appointment deposits, repeating appointment series, consumer marketplace, SOAP notes, insurance billing or HIPAA support.
