Momence pricing, explained

Momence's three tiers — Basic (free with platform fee), Pro, and Custom — what each costs, the platform-fee-versus-subscription trade-off, the processing rate that sits on top, and pricing shifts since the Clubessential acquisition in January 2025. Updated May 2026.

the short answer

What Momence costs, at a glance

  • Basic: free monthly subscription + 5% platform fee per booking (studio side) + 4% client side.
  • Pro: $60/month + 2.5% platform fee per booking.
  • Custom: $199/month + 0% platform fee. The top published tier, with the branded mobile app surface.
  • Processing: 3.9% + $0.30 per US online transaction (2.5% + 20p UK), on top of the per-tier platform fee. This is the gross processing rate, not a markup over Stripe.
  • Ownership: Clubessential acquired Momence in January 2025; the Clubessential–Xplor merger followed in September 2025.
tier by tier

What each tier actually includes

Basic (free)

$0 / month, 5% + 4% fees

Free entry tier with a per-booking platform fee on both sides.

  • Basic class scheduling and bookings
  • 5% platform fee on each booking (studio side)
  • 4% additional fee on client side
  • On-demand video and livestream hosting
  • Standard processing on top (3.9% + $0.30 US online)

The platform fee adds up fast. For a studio doing £150K in bookings, 5% is £7,500/year — far more than the Pro or Custom subscription.

Pro

$60 / month + 2.5% platform fee

A subscription that buys a lower per-booking platform fee.

  • Class scheduling, memberships, packs
  • 2.5% platform fee per booking (studio side)
  • On-demand video and livestream hosting
  • Marketing automation and reporting
  • Standard processing on top (3.9% + $0.30 US online)

The middle of the platform-fee-versus-subscription trade-off. For studios under £100K in bookings, often the all-in-cheapest Momence option.

Custom

$199 / month, 0% platform fee

Higher subscription, no per-booking platform fee.

  • Everything in Pro
  • 0% platform fee per booking
  • Branded mobile app surface
  • Deeper integration with the Momence marketplace
  • Priority support
  • Standard processing on top (3.9% + $0.30 US online)

The top published tier. For high-booking-volume studios, the 0% platform fee saves money versus the lower tiers despite the higher subscription.

the math

Platform fee versus subscription

Momence's tier design trades platform fee (a percentage of every booking) against subscription (a fixed monthly cost). The right tier depends on booking volume.

Low volume (under £50K/year in bookings)

Basic (free + 5% fee) can be cheapest in absolute terms — £50K × 5% = £2,500 in platform fees with zero subscription. Junocal Starter at £15/month (£180/year) is meaningfully cheaper at this volume.

Mid volume (£50K-£200K/year)

Pro at $60/month + 2.5% is typically the right band. £150K × 2.5% = £3,750 in platform fees plus subscription. Junocal Studio at £29/month (£350 all-in) is cheaper.

High volume (£200K+/year)

Custom at $199/month + 0% platform fee makes sense — the fixed subscription replaces the percentage fee that would otherwise compound with volume. Junocal Growth at £69/month (£830/year) is comparable on the subscription side, with no per-booking platform fee.

the things buyers ask

Questions

What's the cheapest Momence plan?

Momence Basic is technically free (no monthly subscription) but charges a 5% platform fee on every booking (studio side) plus 4% on the client side. For a studio doing £150K in bookings, the 5% fee alone is £7,500/year. Pro at $60/month + 2.5% is typically the all-in-cheapest option for studios with meaningful booking volume.

Does Momence charge a marketplace commission?

Momence doesn't publish a marketplace commission percentage the way Mindbody does, but the Momence consumer app drives bookings through the platform's commercial layer. What Momence does publish is the per-booking platform fee that applies to every booking: 5% on Basic, 2.5% on Pro, 0% on Custom. That platform fee is separate from any marketplace-attribution mechanics.

What's Momence's payment processing rate?

Standard processing is 3.9% + $0.30 per US online card transaction (2.5% + 20p in the UK), and it sits on top of the per-tier platform fee. That 3.9% is the gross processing rate, not a markup over Stripe — Momence bundles processing, so the right way to compare cost is per-tier platform fee plus this processing rate. Junocal, by contrast, uses your own Stripe direct at Stripe's published rates with no platform fee on top.

How has Momence pricing changed since the Clubessential acquisition?

Clubessential Holdings acquired Momence on January 29, 2025, bringing it under the same parent as ClubReady, Exerp, and myFitApp. On September 16, 2025, Clubessential and Xplor Technologies announced a merger — so Momence only sits alongside Xplor's Mariana Tek through that later combination, not through the January acquisition itself. Operators tracking the roll-up watch the post-acquisition trajectory for pricing pressure and contract changes.

Are there annual contracts on Momence?

Momence's lower tiers have historically been offered month-to-month or short-term, with the Custom tier carrying negotiated terms. Studios on annual contracts can parallel-run during a trial of an alternative platform or contact Momence about early-cancellation terms.

What does the Momence on-demand video product include?

Momence hosts native on-demand video and livestream content with subscription billing tied to library access on every tier. Studios can sell video subscriptions as a separate product or include video access in a membership. Note: video files don't always export cleanly when migrating away — operator reports describe the video content as not-retrievable through the standard export, requiring re-upload to Vimeo, YouTube, or Uscreen during transition.

What's the total annual cost of Momence for a typical studio?

For a UK studio doing £150,000/year in bookings on Momence Pro ($60 / ~£48 a month): ~£576 subscription + 2.5% platform fee on bookings (~£3,750 at that volume) + processing on top = a few thousand pounds all-in. On Momence Custom at $199 / ~£159 with no platform fee: ~£1,900 subscription + processing on top. Junocal Studio at £29/month all-in, with your own Stripe direct and no platform fee: ~£350/year plus Stripe's published processing.

Looking at alternatives?

Junocal Studio at £29 / $29 a month covers the core operational shape of Momence Pro or Custom at a fixed monthly cost. No per-booking platform fee, your own Stripe direct at published rates, no marketplace commission, no annual contract.
